Ice Dance

What a beautiful song.  Yeah, you know the one I'm talking about.  It's the one that should be on everyone's favorite mixed Christmas compact disc.   The one that is played in the video below.  The one you should listen to as soon as possible.

This delicious Danny Elfman score for Edward Scissorhands makes me warm and fuzzy inside.  It is great on its own but the movie also provides snapshots of a empty world enriched with a magical, mysterious, creative, and  gentle presence.  Snapshots like these:

I grew up in a very small town.  It was a good place to grow up.  It was safe and allowed me to find creativity, curiosity, and affection for innocence within myself.  I made close friends who still know me better than anyone, and I wouldn't trade my childhood for anything.

Still, I recognize the desire for excitement and fulfillment in a stark place with homogenous people, buildings, and livelihood can bring out some of the worst parts of people.  They begin to enjoy the harm others cause, and they want to cause harm because they stop recognizing how exciting the good things in life can be.  I think that changing this is what SuperForest is all about.  It is also what this great Tim Burton film is about.  

We want to remind people about how good news, creativity, innovation, and kindness can make a difference in the world.  These things can bring people back to life.  They help me accept the differences between all of us and recognize the similarities we share.  More importantly, they make me want to share the things that make me feel good with everyone else.

P.S.  While posting this I spilled coffee all over my coffee table and now my living room smells like Folgers.
