The
Office for Visual Interaction has won a bid to begin replacing significant portions of New York's streetlights, and their replacement design is pretty incredible.
Each light is an array of individually focusable LEDs, using 30 percent less power than conventional streetlights.
Here's
more on the streetlights from wired.com.
And more still from
LEDs magazine.
New York City needed a unique streetlight. The current Cobra Head really has a 1960's feel to it. They were good for the time, but now its time for something new. Hopefully, they can install leds into the historic Bishop Crook lamps that NYC uses in some neighborhoods.
