With the holiday season coming to an end in its usual, busy fashion, life can get pretty hectic.

We have all been there: Last minute shopping, visiting friends and family, all kinds of goodies and sweet treats to make.

Sometimes when we start to get frustrated it is good to sit back and say, "hey, I can't control everything, so I might as well enjoy the ride."

Or, like the talented Australian singer Lenka says: just enjoy the show.

The Accolade - Saudi Arabia's First (?) and Only (?) All Girl Metal Band!

Ummm, whoah...

An all girl metal band is awesome enough, but an all girl metal band that could be executed for revealing their identities (!) takes awesome and ties it to a rocket and fires it directly into the sun resulting in a supernova of awesomeness the world has yet to match.

From the NYTimes:

"JIDDA, Saudi Arabia — They cannot perform in public. They cannot pose for album cover photographs. Even their jam sessions are secret, for fear of offending the religious authorities in this ultraconservative kingdom.

But the members of Saudi Arabia’s first all-girl rock band, the Accolade, are clearly not afraid of taboos.

The band’s first single, “Pinocchio,” has become an underground hit here, with hundreds of young Saudis downloading the song from the group’s Web site. Now, the pioneering foursome, all of them college students, want to start playing regular gigs — inside private compounds, of course — and recording an album."

Oh man, so awesome. First Acrassicauda, now this.

Remind Me

Back in 2002 the Norwegian electronic duo Röyksopp released a single, Remind Me. That's not much of a specialty since most acts release singles. And singles are accompanied by music videos. As was Remind Me, now, the music video was so good it won the MTV Award for Best Music Video. Please forgive me if you already knew all this information but back in 2002 I was aged 10 so the MTV Awards back then kind of passed me by. So for me all this savvy was new.

When I was browsing Vimeo the other night the very music video appeared on my dashboard, so I watched it. For the first time since I was ten back in 2002. And this was what they showed me.

In my humble opinion it's excellence in four minutes and eleven seconds. In case the electronic music can't please you the graphics are worthwhile. Extremely worthwhile.
It shows the everyday of an office worker somewhere in England, you have to watch it a couple of times to see all the infographics that are flying through the video but that adds up to all the fun.

And oh boy, that song is good. But that could just be me.

Robotic Streetart

I just spotted this photograph of a great piece of street art.

It was taken in Rouen, a French city that lies about hundred kilometers North-West of Paris. It also is the hometown of We Are The Robots, a music group that makes, as they describe it, post-punk.
They probably took a look at their name and asked: "how can we promote ourselves through street-art?" And the above was the result! It seems like their promotion is working, too; as the picture shows they attract an age group they would never have attracted with a 'post-punk' stamp.

Steve Winwood was 19 when he wrote this timeless song. Hear it but once and you'll never forget that beat.

Wow, Michael was only eleven when the J5 came out with this masterpiece. Not technically a teenager, I know, but how can one ignore this song? Cannot.

3.) "Green Onions" - Booker T and the MG's



Booker T. Jones was 17 when Green Onions hit in 1962.

4.) "That'll Be The Day" - Buddy Holly



Sweet, loveable, cuddly Buddy Holly was 19 when he wrote "That'll Be the Day" based on a line from the John Wayne film "The Searchers."

5.) "Why Do Fools Fall In Love" - Frankie Lymon and the Teenagers



Frankie Lymon was a tender 13 years old when this came out in January of '56.
