Awesome Wooden Toys!

If you are in the market for some new toys for a present or your little one, there are great toys out there that won’t make your house smell like a plastic doll factory. Check out Our Green House. They have a whole section on their site devoted to toys made in the USA. We just got Ethan (my little munchkin) some of the cutest wooden toys from them that I’m sure he is going to play with for years and years to come.

Another awesome awesome company is Plan Toys. Check out the part on their site that explains their Green Concept. All their toys are manufactured in Thailand. They are made of organic rubberwood recycled from rubber trees no longer able to produce latex (and they also have a reforestation program). Of course, all the glue and ink is non-toxic and they try in all steps of their manufacturing to minimize their impact on the environment. They also integrate alternative energy to run some of their machinery. All around, they seem to be doing an amazing job! And did I mention their photographs are beautiful?
Here are just a few:

Honestly, I personally have gone through the debate about where our toys are coming from, during the whole China lead paint recalls. Is there better quality control if it is manufactured in US? We believe the answer is no. As we see from Plan Toys, there are great companies producing all over the world that are manufacturing in a responsible and sustainable way. As a fellow SuperForest team member just reminded me, we are all Citizens of the World! If you are approaching everyday with responsibility, positivity and manners towards our environment (which includes what gets put in the hands of our next generation) you get our full support, no matter if you are manufacturing in Pennsylvania, China, Thailand or Mars!

(I just picked a couple of companies, but there are lots of others--here are a few more: Haba Toys, Vilac, Oompa Toys (has a big selection of European Toys), and Holgate Toys.

Play and be happy!
Niki
