The Santur

Good Morning SuperForest,

As of late, I have become really interested in studying the music cultures of the world. During my studies, I discovered the Santur. The santur is arguably one of the most important instruments in Persian music and basically consists of a trapezoid shaped wooden box with a series of strings capable of playing three octaves. You play this beautiful instrument by holding the lightweight mallets between your index and middle finger and then hammer down on the strings similar to how a piano does.

When comes to musical instruments, the santur scores pretty high on the awesome scale. Check out this video!

It just amazes me to see how diverse and beautiful this world is. There is so much to learn and discover.

Cheers,

C
